The DC Smith Greenhouse in the UW College of Ag is celebrating a major milestone!
Thanks to a grant from the UW Green Fund and donors to our 25th Anniversary Fundraiser we are more than 1/3 of the way to our goal of replacing all our old HPS light fixtures with new, LED grow lights. There's still time for you to be a part of this effort.
25 years ago a campus parking lot was turned into a state-of-the-art greenhouse and conservatory. Since then over 30,000 students in hundreds of classes, not to mention countless visitors have come here to learn about plants and be surrounded by green, growing things.
You can be a part of the next 25 years of growing and learning! Help us replace our aging equipment with new, modern systems - some that weren't even available when we first opened last century.
Your donation can help make it happen:
With $100 we can buy additional lab equipment so there's less waiting for shared tools
With $300 we can buy a hydroponic system to train students in growing fresh, local produce
With $500 we can buy one brand new LED light fixture that will be more energy efficient than our original, outdated lights
With $3,000 we can replace all the existing fixtures in one greenhouse room with LEDs
With $25,000 we can install new, energy efficient LEDs in the entire greenhouse!
