White Coat Ceremonies are an important part of the student nurse experience. For undergraduates, it honors the commitment they have made to join the nursing profession. For DNP students, it connects their advanced learning in the school with their commitment to enhancing health outcomes in their practice. For all, this special moment reminds us what it means to be a Badger Nurse.
Our goal is to raise $5,500 toward new white coats for all incoming undergraduate and DNP students. A minimum $25 contribution also gives you the opportunity to leave a message in the pocket of a student’s new white coat. Your gift might also be doubled! The first $1,500 raised unlocks a $1,500 matching gift from BadgerNurse supporters Mary and Jerome Behrens, Nancy and Ira Kaufman, and Richard and Patricia Sinaiko. Plus, gifts made by young alumni, who have graduated since 2000, will be matched up to $500 from the Nursing Alumni Organization.
After years of studying and preparation, students receive their white coat and take the Nightingale Pledge to mark the beginning of their role in patient care. This professional milestone serves as a visible symbol of the commitment and responsibility all Badger Nurses make to provide quality patient care and to advance health outcomes for all.
