The Hoofer Mountaineering Club is located on the campus of UW Madison and provides people with the opportunity to get outside and build friendships through shared outdoor adventures and a passion for climbing. The club was first established in 1949 and has been serving the community ever since. The club is open to students and community members and our hope is to give people the opportunity to learn outdoor climbing skills and explore the outdoors with friends.
Each year our club grows in member size but also in the goals and aspirations of the members within it. This year we have members heading to Portugal, Arizona, and Nevada to spend time climbing in world class climbing destinations. We are hoping to raise money in order to keep up with the growing needs of the club. Equipment comes at a steep cost and new gear is required keep up with the club’s growing objectives. Within the club, we also have a strong desire to develop leaders and promote safety. We are hoping to be able to subsidize learning experiences for our leaders so they can pass their knowledge down to other climbers. Finally, we are raising funds so that we can keep climbing accessible to everyone. These funds will help us subsidize and lower costs for members, which will allow for a more inclusive environment within the club.
This support would help supplement gear needs, trip subsidizations, and invest in passing down climbing knowledge in the form of leader development. We appreciate the continued support to help our club grow and prosper.
