In the spirit of Broadway legend and UW–Madison alumnus André De Shields ’70, the André De Shields Fund celebrates the power of art to inspire change.

Your gift helps UW–Madison undergraduates become creative visionaries who transform their ideas into action by developing, designing, producing, and performing original works that spark dialogue and reflection. Through seed grants of $1,000–$3,000, students receive not only funding but mentorship and resources to encourage success.

Your generosity—no matter the size—makes an immediate and meaningful difference:

  • $25 covers a 70″ flat-screen TV rental
  • $50 provides four wireless microphones
  • $100 funds a grand piano rental or dance floor covering in Shannon Hall
  • $200 covers professional piano tuning
  • $500 supports two days of use in the Play Circle
  • $1,200 provides one tech day in Shannon Hall
  • $1,650 covers one performance in Shannon Hall

The inaugural awardees were selected this year and will be bringing to life new plays, poetry, and music that challenge perspectives and celebrate the power of the arts.

Join us this Giving Tuesday to help reach our $3,000 goal and empower the next generation of visionary artists.
