Graduate student recruiting is hugely important to the health and vibrancy of the Nutrition and Metabolism Graduate Program (formerly the Interdepartmental Graduate Program in Nutritional Sciences). We are asking prospective students to commit 4-6 years of their life to furthering the important research and teaching missions of the Department of Nutritional Sciences. We want to recruit the best and brightest. Our recruitment weekend allows us to showcase our research in the department and graduate program, the scientific community at UW-Madison, and the beauty of the city.

With the support of generous donors and friends of the program, we can attract top students to our dynamic program and help them develop into field leaders. Your contribution will support:

  • Networking dinners for prospective students to meet faculty trainers and current graduate students.
  • A poster session showcasing current research within the program.
  • Transportation and lodging for prospective students.

“A recruiting trip went a long way to making me feel valued as a candidate…Having the opportunity to attend a poster presentation featuring a lot of the science being done by the current PhD students in the department was very useful to me and gave me a lot of insight into the department and what was possible here.”

Shawn Portwood, 1st year Nutrition and Metabolism PhD student
